Jebel Jais Zipline: My Ride on the World's Longest Zipline

Short answer: The Jebel Jais Zipline (also called Jais Flight) is a Guinness World Records-certified 2.8-kilometer zipline across Ras Al Khaimah's highest mountain, reaching speeds over 120km/h and, on the extended sections, upward of 160km/h. I flew it on a clear morning and it remains one of the most physically intense adventure experiences I've had in the UAE.

Getting to the Launch Point

Jebel Jais sits about two hours from Dubai in Ras Al Khaimah, and the drive itself is part of the experience — winding mountain roads with increasingly dramatic views as you climb toward the UAE's highest peak at 1,934 meters above sea level. I cover the full route and transport options in my Dubai to Jebel Jais transport guide.

Check-In and Gearing Up

Check-in happens at the Jais Flight welcome center, where I was fitted with a full harness and helmet and given a safety briefing that was noticeably more detailed than a typical zipline — understandable, given the speeds involved. Staff talked through the multi-stage system, since Jais Flight isn't one single line but a sequence of zip stages across the mountain.

What the Ride Actually Feels Like

The moment the cable releases you into the ravine, there's a genuine drop in your stomach before the line goes taut and you accelerate hard toward triple-digit speeds. Unlike XLine Dubai's urban skyline views, here you're flying over raw, rugged 70-million-year-old rock formations with almost nothing below you but canyon. It's louder, longer, and rawer than any urban zipline — the wind noise alone at 120km/h+ is intense.

The Sky Bridge and Multi-Stage Course

Partway through, riders cross the UAE's highest sky bridge — a 15-meter suspended crossing roughly 300 meters above the ground — before continuing to the next zip stage. I go into more detail on this and the optional Via Ferrata climbing route in my Via Ferrata & Sky Bridge guide.

How It Compares to XLine Dubai

If you're trying to decide between the two, the short version is: XLine Dubai is shorter, urban, and skyline-focused, while Jebel Jais is longer, faster, and set in raw mountain terrain. I broke down every difference in my XLine Dubai vs Jebel Jais comparison.

Was It Worth the Trip Out of Dubai?

Completely. It's a genuinely different kind of adrenaline from anything you'll find within Dubai city limits, and the Guinness World Record status for length gives it a bragging-rights factor that's hard to beat.
